Elizabeth Ann Miles, LCSW
Elizabeth Ann Miles LCSW provides individual and family therapy to children (age 3 and up), adolescents and adults, to assist in changing patterns that have created barriers to being their best. Offering evidence-based, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused counseling, Elizabeth receives regular feedback she has assisted individuals and families in making and maintaining positive changes. Some clients choose to maintain long-term monthly support and others choose to leave and return when needing assistance through a new challenge. Additionally, Elizabeth provides consults for ADHD management, behavioral plans, integration support of positive parenting, group treatment and education, and art-based groups.
As a therapist, Elizabeth is more directive than passive in style, and quickly works to assess goals, and create an individualized treatment plan to address barriers. Elizabeth has extensive training and experience treating all Anxiety Disorders, managing ADHD (including building executive functioning and social skills), Addressing behavioral challenges and family conflict with Positive Parenting Support, Self-regulation skill building, assisting in Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, Addressing Depression with CBT, and attending to complicated grief utilizing many modalities.
Elizabeth is an independently licensed clinical social worker, LCSW, with experience in many mental health and educational settings. Moving from community mental health care to private practice in 2013, she strives to do effective brief treatment and ongoing support, for difficulties related to ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Grief, Parenting, and Family Conflict. Through the latest professional research and frequent trainings, she is an active learner in constant pursuit of new competencies. She holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a M.S.W. from the University of New England.
Insurances accepted include (not limited to) Aetna, Anthem, Maine Health Anthem Plan, BlueCross and BlueShield, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim, Maine Community Health Options, Optum/UBH/UMR, Martin’s Point. Contracted amount will be paid. Copay and payment toward deductible are due at time of service.
Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys travel, art, dancing, nature, animals, and adventure. An extravert, she loves to be surrounded by family and friends. She is a Mom and an artist (drawing and painting mostly). Elizabeth has a son and daughter, who she would describe as creative, active, curious, quirky, challenging, caring, and funny. She is active in community building, volunteering and working on various social and environmental solutions. Elizabeth is a life-long activist and strong advocate for children and families. While born and raised in Maine, she has lived in both Boston and San Diego, visited most of the United States, and has travelled to many countries. She loves personal narrative through many formats, including expressive art, memoir, comedy, and traditional storytelling. She can often be found watching live music in small venues, giant concerts, and everything in between. Lastly, Elizabeth gains much joy from being in and near the ocean all year round. She enjoys playing in the ocean waves, and also swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, polar dipping, and river floats.
