Sri Devi Healing Arts
Intuitive Energy & Sound Healer, Usui Reiki Master Level Teacher/Practitioner, ERYT- 500, Vedic Chanting Teacher, Yoga & Meditation Guide
Reiki and sound healing calm the nervous system and invite balance.
Reiki is a gentle energy healing modality originating from Japan. During a Reiki session the practitioner acts as conduit for healing energy and transmits that energy to the client. Sound healing uses the vibration of different frequencies to invite your system back into its natural state.
Most of us operate in the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight). When you're in this state, stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol keep your body’s cognitive and immune systems suppressed. Reiki and sound healing guide the nervous system back in the parasympathetic state (rest and digest). When this happens the stress hormones stop pumping and the systems in your body can function optimally. This activates your body's innate ability to heal.
These sessions can be beneficial for:
anxiety/worry/stress reduction/depression
moving through difficult transitions
releasing trauma
headaches
insomnia
grief
muscle pain
PMS
Reiki and sound can also complement any ongoing treatment plan.
Investment: $125 / 1hr. $165 / 90 minutes
Couple and group rates available by request.
About Sri Devi
I have been drawn to the nature of reality for as long as I can remember. In my early 20’s, I became fascinated by the union of mind and body in the present moment and the healing that can take place there. Coming from a background in theater and dance, I began sharing this as an important life skill with children of all ages through those mediums.
Discovering Yoga + Sanskrit
Finding yoga while in recovery from surgery, I realized that the essence of what I was teaching in my theatre classes, I could share even more deeply through yoga. I found ShivaShakti School of Yoga in 2015 and studied intensively with Krishna Perry and Aiyana Athenien along with many other fabulous teachers there until completing my 500HR YTT in 2018. Over the years I have done specialty training in Yoga Nidra, pranayama (yogic breathwork), meditation, children’s yoga, Restorative Yoga, Ayurvedic yoga, and Thai yoga bodywork.
In 2016, I began intensive studies in Sanskrit and yogic philosophy with Prem Sadasivananda from whom I was blessed to receive my spiritual name Śri Devi in 2017. Through Prem’s guidance I was led to Sri Vidya Ramananthan and Samskrita Bharata, where I continued my Sanskrit studies until 2023. In 2022, I was lucky enough to be led to Shantala Sriramaiah (Veda Studies) and since then I have been training inside a living lineage of Veda chanting from South India. Chanting has changed my life. I’m so grateful to now be able to pass on these practices as an authorized teacher of this tradition.
My Entrance to Energy Work
In search of a solution for my inability to conceive a child, I discovered the life changing world of energy work in 1998. Through an ongoing relationship with my first mentor Ellen Landress-Bowkett, I learned powerful methods of feeling into the energy system to locate and witness trauma in order to reintegrate and find wholeness. Building on those skills, in 2016, I acquired my Usui/Holy Fire Reiki Master certification through Melissa Rose Redman and the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT), along with additional advanced Reiki master trainings with Brenda Colfer. Since then I have continued 1:1 mentorship with mind-body therapist Denise Jasmin deepening my understanding of how intricately the two are connected.
The Power of Sound
While on a trip to India in early 2020, I had a profound experience with a healer who taught me traditional ways of using metal singing bowls and I began diving into a passion for the healing benefits of sound. Incorporating various types of singing bowls and other sound healing tools in my healing sessions deepened my understanding about how sound can reach places words cannot. As the depth of my chanting practice increased, I began to realize the vibrational power of voice as an additional agent of healing and transformation.
Integration & Restoration
Integrating the mind, body and heart and connecting to a place of peace is a life-long journey for each of us. Allowing the nervous system to become familiar with a relaxed state through a variety of modalities is my top goal. When we are in this state, our own innate healing ability is activated and we can meet ourselves with presence, release stagnant energy, shift blocks and even rewrite mental patterning in order to encourage balance and harmony on all levels.
I live in beautiful Portland, ME and when I’m not teaching, studying, or seeing clients, you can find me walking in the forest, singing with the birds, or putting my feet in really cold water.
